Fall Cleaning Tips to Protect Your Home

The arrival of fall means so many things. Holidays approach. The nights get colder and eventually, even the days do, too.

Today though, we are going to focus on a couple of tips provided in an excellent list of fall cleaning ideas put together by Realsimple.com Many of the ideas are essential but basic. Washing walls, reorganizing/downsizing closets, washing the drapes.

But there are a couple of items that are focused on protecting your home.

For one:

1) Replace your furnace filter. If you haven't done it within the past three months, do it now.

Also:

2) If you have a working fireplace, hire someone to professionally sweep it and inspect it. Here is a link to some great reading on chimneys and ensuring your home never has a chimney fire.

And lastly:

3) We at SERVPRO of South Redlands/Yucaipa have been banging the drum for a while about changing the batteries in your smoke detectors. Now is a great time to make that happen. They aren't much use if the batteries are dead.
